On 9th June 2025, The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) issued a notification regarding the phase-out of 2G and 3G-only telecommunications equipment. This move reflects the continued shift toward more advanced network technologies in Thailand.

Key Points:
 -
NBTC will no longer issue type approval certificates (Class B) for equipment that supports only 2G or 3G technologies after 30 June 2025.
 - The importation of 2G/3G-only devices will be permitted only up to the effective date.
 - Devices that combine 2G/3G with newer technologies such as 4G or 5G will still be eligible for type approval and importation under existing procedures.
